About the teacher
Meet The Teacher
Hi, I’m Michelle Peck, and I have been sharing the joy of piano since I began teaching at age 18. With a Master’s degree in Education and a lifelong passion for music, I love helping students find their unique musical voice. I am a classically trained pianist and dedicated educator with nearly two decades of teaching experience. Since 2007, I have maintained a thriving Atlanta-area studio, guiding 45 to 60 students annually to musical excellence.
While my students regularly place in the top ten and win cash prizes at competitive regional festivals, my core mission is much simpler. I believe music should be a lifelong source of joy. Whether your child wants to master Mozart, play traditional hymns, or learn their favorite pop songs, I provide a nurturing environment where they can thrive and build confidence.

A nonprofit organization of over 700 independent and collegiate music teachers throughout the state, who are committed to furthering the art of music through programs that encourage and support teaching, performance, composition and scholarly research.
National Federation of Music Clubs 2004 – Current
The largest nonprofit organization in America, supporting and promoting American music, performers and music education. As a grassroots organization working in communities throughout America, NFMC provides musical opportunities for all ages: professional and amateur musicians, benefactors, volunteers, music lovers, music teachers, music students, and supportive parents. Over 90,000 members participate annually in Festival programs, competitive events, community outreach or just meeting music lovers in the community.

Lesson Options and Policy
In Person Options
In-person lessons are given in the home on Monday or Saturday. In person lessons are either 30 minutes or 60 minutes, depending on advancement of the student.
- Curriculum: Method books + recital pieces
- Extras: Stickers, mini-challenges, quarterly recitals
Virtual Option
Virtual lessons are given on Sunday via Zoom or Facetime. Virtual lessons are 30-minutes.
- Skills: Technique refreshers, theory, lead sheets
- Goal: Consistent progress without being overwhelmed
Policy
For both in-person and virtual lessons, please ensure the time is kept free from distraction. Please keep pets and small children away from the piano during the lesson. If the piano is in the family area, please have all devices, TVs, and video games turned off during the practice.

Other Festivals

Festivals & Competitions
Held each November, this event allows students to perform two memorized pieces and receive a written evaluation along with a rating such as Superior or Excellent. The entry fee is $45, due in October. Additionally, five students from each grade level are selected to receive a cash prize.
Scheduled for February, this national festival serves as a standardized evaluation system for piano progress and repertoire. Students perform two memorized pieces and receive a written critique and rating. The Piano Solo entry fee is $35, due in January. An optional written Theory Test is available for an additional $20 per student.
Taking place at the beginning of each calendar year, the GMTA Piano Auditions consist of three competitive rounds: Local Association, Regional, and State. Students advance through each level based on performance results.
GMTA offers an annual theory examination recognizing excellence in music theory. The test includes 12 levels (1–12), each containing both Aural and Written components. Exams are distributed in the fall and administered on dates set by the Local Association.
Studio Policies
Scheduling & Cancellations
- Rescheduling: 36-hour notice to move a lesson within the same month
- No-shows: Count as a used lesson and will not be rescheduled.
- Holidays: Studio calendar shared each term
Practice & Materials
- Expectations: 30-60 minutes most days based on level
- Materials: Books will be recomended based on level. Festival & Competition books will be provided.
- Instrument: Acoustic or quality digital piano recommended
